A Government Analyst’s official report has been filed before the Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate’s Court in connection with the case against former Atamasthanadhipathi Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana over allegations of serious sexual abuse of a minor girl.
The case is being heard under Case No. B 22424/2026, and a copy of the report has also been forwarded to the Attorney General.
According to the Government Analyst’s report, semen belonging to the suspect monk was detected on both sides of a mat that had been taken into the custody of the Nittambuwa Police after being identified by the girl. The report also states that no blood stains were detected on the mat.
The report further confirms that a long strand of hair recovered from the alleged crime scene and sent for forensic analysis did not belong to the victim but to another woman.
According to a further report submitted to court by the Nittambuwa Police, the girl had visited the residence, identified the location where the alleged incident took place and stated that she had been subjected to sexual abuse there.
The suspect, Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana, is currently out on strict bail conditions imposed by the court, while the foreign travel ban imposed on him remains in effect.
Further proceedings in the case are expected to be conducted based on the Attorney General’s future instructions.
