The number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka so far in 2026 has risen to 96,040, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.
In a statement, the National Dengue Control Unit said that 10,155 dengue cases were reported in August alone.
A total of 72 dengue-related deaths have been reported so far this year.
The highest number of cases has been recorded in the Western Province, with 50,760 cases. The Southern Province has reported 13,931 cases, while 8,788 cases have been recorded in the Central Province and 7,910 in the Sabaragamuwa Province.
At district level, the highest number of dengue cases has been reported from the Gampaha District, with 20,444 cases.
Meanwhile, 19,008 cases have been reported from Colombo District, 7,043 from Kandy, 6,154 from Matara and 6,181 from Kalutara.
In addition, 50 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas across the island continue to be identified as high-risk areas for dengue.
