The Western Province Civil Appellate High Court has rejected Dayasiri Jayasekara’s request to recognise him as the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
Jayasekara had earlier filed a case before the Colombo District Court seeking recognition as the party’s General Secretary. He had also sought an injunction preventing Duminda Dissanayake from functioning as General Secretary and Nimal Siripala de Silva from serving as Chairman.
After the Colombo District Court rejected his initial request, Jayasekara appealed the decision before the Western Province Civil Appellate High Court.
During the hearing held yesterday (28), the Appellate High Court also refused to issue an interim injunction against Duminda Dissanayake and Nimal Siripala de Silva.
The preliminary hearing of the case has been scheduled for January 8, 2027.
