Following an investigation into a person who was found in possession of a forged temporary driving licence, a team of officers from the Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau arrested a man and a woman allegedly involved in producing fake temporary driving licences.
The suspects were arrested with a forged temporary driving licence in the Janatha Mawatha area of Werahera within the Werahera Police Division on the morning of October 4, 2026, and were subsequently produced before the Mount Lavinia Police Station.
The suspects are a married couple, with the woman aged 43 and the man aged 49. They are residents of Janatha Mawatha, Werahera.
Further investigations have revealed that the suspects had allegedly been producing and selling fake temporary driving licences for money for approximately one and a half years.
The Mount Lavinia Police are conducting further investigations.
