A 78-year-old man has been killed in an attack with a sharp weapon near Thorapitiya Junction in the Laggala Police Division.
Police said officers responded to a report received yesterday (10) morning that an injured man was lying near the location and arranged for him to be admitted to Dasgiriya Hospital. However, doctors confirmed that he had already died.
The deceased was a 78-year-old resident of the Ma Oya area in Village 01.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon by his son-in-law following a dispute between the two that escalated.
The suspect has fled the area, and Laggala Police are conducting further investigations to arrest him.
