5th ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ committee meeting held

The subcommittee established under the President’s Task Force ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ has convened for the fifth time to review the progress of rebuilding social infrastructure damaged by Cyclone Ditwah.

The meeting was held yesterday (20) at the Presidential Secretariat under the chairmanship of Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment Dr. Upali Pannila.

Discussions focused on the progress of reconstruction work and the challenges faced during the restoration of damaged social infrastructure facilities.

The subcommittee is responsible for monitoring the restoration of education, health, cultural and public facilities during the post-disaster period and submitting progress reports to the main committee.

Special attention was given to the provinces severely affected by the disaster, with provincial officials presenting updates on infrastructure restoration activities.
