A 30-year-old man was shot dead in the Koshenna area within the Payagala Police Division last night (31).
Police launched an investigation after receiving information that two unidentified individuals who arrived on a motorcycle had shot at a man who was inside a house before fleeing the scene.
The victim, who sustained gunshot injuries, was admitted to Nagoda Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased was a 30-year-old resident of the Payagala area, police said.
Police suspect that an automatic firearm was used in the shooting.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Payagala Police to arrest the suspects.
